Shared Beginning

Wedding Website Australia: RSVPs, Travel and Your Celebration

Create a wedding website for your Australian celebration, with clear event details, interstate guest information, outdoor plans and inclusive wording.

Bring your wedding details together before guests start making their travel plans.

For a local celebration or a wedding with interstate and overseas guests, your website should make the important decisions clear: where to go, when to arrive, how to reply and what is confirmed.

Shared Beginning connects wedding websites, guest management and planning tools, with flexible names, pronouns and wedding conventions.

Start planning your celebration.

Plan for the guests travelling furthest

Publish the venue city, state or territory and full address. Separate general destination information from the precise ceremony and reception instructions. If people need to arrive the day before, explain the reason and the events they are actually invited to.

For a weekend celebration, distinguish optional activities from hosted events. A list of suggested places to visit should not look like an invitation to a paid excursion you have organised.

Label local times clearly

Write the month in words and identify event times as local to the venue. If you share a livestream with people elsewhere, check the time conversion for that date and label it separately. Do not assume a numeric date or an unlabelled time means the same thing to every guest.

A useful schedule introduction is:

All event times below are local to [venue city]. Please arrive at [time] for the [time] ceremony. For anyone joining online, we will share separately labelled livestream details closer to the day.

Only promise a livestream once the equipment, connection and responsible person are arranged.

Describe outdoor and remote-venue arrangements

For a beach, garden, country or other outdoor setting, ask the venue about the route, surfaces, shelter and backup location. Explain confirmed transport and food arrangements, especially when guests cannot easily leave and return.

Instead of a vague "dress for the weather," give practical verified information:

The ceremony is planned on [surface/location]. Please consider [footwear or clothing guidance suited to the actual plan]. Our confirmed alternative is [location], and we will communicate any change through [method].

Check current official weather and local safety advice close to the celebration. The website should communicate the plan, not replace venue decisions or emergency advice.

Keep the registry office and the guest website separate

For a legal marriage, Australia's Attorney-General's Department explains requirements and the role of an authorised marriage celebrant. Confirm your paperwork, timing and required ceremony wording with the appropriate professional.

Use Shared Beginning to organise information and guest communication, not to decide whether a ceremony is legally valid.

Set expectations for accommodation and costs

Tell guests whether you have a confirmed booking arrangement or are providing suggestions. Make it clear who books and pays. Label Australian-dollar amounts as AUD where currency could be ambiguous.

Before purchasing a software plan, check the current plan currency and total shown at checkout. Currency used for your own wedding budget need not be the currency used to bill a service.

A website that introduces you correctly

Use your names and chosen titles, share pronouns deliberately and introduce the people supporting you in language they approve. Shared Beginning's flexible conventions make room for celebrations outside a compulsory bride-and-groom script.

Start with our LGBTQ+ website checklist, chosen-family ideas or wedding-party roles.

Start with a useful first version

Your website does not need every detail before it helps guests. Publish the confirmed date, location and response instructions, then update the schedule and travel sections as plans develop. Keep placeholders clearly labelled and private events out of an unrestricted schedule.
